Playground Ensemble performs with NYC-based artist Jace Clayton (aka DJ/rupture) on Saint Signal Bureaucracy.

Saint Signal Bureaucracy is a new performance piece by Jace Clayton for string quartet,
electronics and voice. It combines an original composition by Clayton with works from the classical
repertoire undergoing live electronic processing.

Clayton’s title sets the framework for how language and sound structure would reflect MediaLive
2016’s theme of corruption: Saint (corruption of the body/incorruptible saints and corrupted youth)
Signal (data corruption/signal-to-noise ratio of information theory) Bureaucracy (corrupted system /
government corruption, paperwork, lack of transparency).

Explore the intimacy of sound in interactive chairs by JP Merz, dive under the surface of digital images with Dutch artist Rosa Menkman, consider the politics of 3D printing with Iranian American Artist Morehshin Allahyari, and experience the full-on corruption of a string ensemble by NYC-based artist Jace Clayton (aka DJ /rupture).
