Donald Schumacher- viola
A native of Beloit, Wisconsin, Donald was introduced to the viola through the public school system. Donald’s major teachers have included Bernard Zaslav (Northern Illinois University), Karen Tuttle (Peabody Conservatory), and Jesse Levine (Yale University School of Music).
Orchestra experience has included the Baltimore Opera Orchestra, Central City Opera Orchestra, Ashlawn-Highlands Opera Orchestra, Maryland Symphony, Rockford (IL) Symphony, Colorado Springs Symphony, Cheyenne Symphony, Denver Center for the Performing Arts touring Broadway musicals, Disney World All-American College Orchestra, as well as substituting in the Denver Symphony, Colorado Symphony.
Chamber music experience includes the Playground Ensemble, the Confluence Quartet, Denver Chamber Orchestra, Norfolk (CT) Chamber Music Festival. Donald has studied chamber music with the Fine Arts, Vermeer, Tokyo, and American String Quartets.
Donald’s musical career has included such diverse venues as Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney World, state prisons in Illinois and Wisconsin, and a tiny airport hangar in the cornfields of Winnebago County, Illinois.
